Counselling

Someone who understands

The emotional roller coaster of trying to achieve a pregnancy often leads to times of stress and sadness. Sometimes this leads to pressure on the couple's relationship and to difficulties with family and friends. Fertility problems can have a way of getting mixed up into all areas of life. It is often not recognised by the general community just how emotionally demanding it is to have to wait and try hard to achieve a longed for pregnancy.

It is our commitment to support you throughout your whole endeavour to have a child, whatever your choice of treatment. In some cases this may extend well beyond the time you are actively being treated at Flinders Reproductive Medicine - but this is still an important role for us. We recognise that you may have questions or concerns at various times during your treatment. Staff members are committed to fill this need and will respond promptly to your call. This accessibility is designed to help you in decision-making about treatment and to provide you with optimal information and support during your treatment. We are here to help you through the difficult times as well as to share your journey towards a successful pregnancy.

Our Unit counsellor, Julie Potts, is trained and experienced in fertility counselling. Her professional help is available to you during and after treatment, without cost to you and in total confidence. She can help you with the emotional ups and downs of treatment, with pre-treatment planning or just as a good listener for any other concerns you may have.
